SAINT PATRICK’S DAY… TO BE SURE, TO BE SURE

It’s that time of year again to get out your greens and celebrate St Patricks Day on Friday March 17. What better way to celebrate Ireland’s national day than with multiple pints of green beer and a toe-tapping, foot-stomping, ye-old country ‘diddly-diddly’ band. This year, Paddy looks like a party to last the entire weekend so check out ‘dees tree’ (three) green events.

CHELSEA HEIGHTS turn up the Craic with Celtic dancers from 5pm on Friday followed by the legendary Wren Boys from 6pm until late. The Wren Boys aka. Rob, Tony & Pat with feature-fiddler Emma Rhoda are all set to provide the soundtrack to the usual slurry of green beer, pint sized glasses, diddly diddly music and dancing reminiscent of the finest, most talented Leprechaun.

THE SANDS welcome the return of Catulpa, making their annual pilgrimage back to Mcginty’s Irish Bar at The Sands in Carrum Downs on Fridays March 17 from 5pm. Felix Meagher (fiddle player, songwriter and composer of film scores including credits on Baz Luhrmann’s Australia) will be bringing along Lou Hesterman from The Gundaguys, playing songs and dances certain to get the audience involved. With plenty of Guinness give-aways and a Karaoke after party to last way in to the wee hours of the morn.

BAY HOTEL For those partying right through the weekend, Mornington’s Bay Hotel celebrates St Pats on Sunday March 19 from 4pm with The Wren Boys. Patrick Evans along with the highly acclaimed Emma Rodda on fiddle is a magic combination of the highest caliber.  “Paddy” Evans is renowned for his work with celtic bands Fiddlestix and Pure Genius along with some of Melbourne’s finest musicians. With the added swill of a Sunday Session the Bay promises plenty of ‘craic’, raucous fiddle playing and good (green) times!

To be sure, to be sure, and make to make this St Paddy’s Day last the whole weekend. For more information visit www.pearlhq.com.au or contact the venue.
