There are few DJs that have created so much fanfare so quickly than Henry Saiz. From his early work remixing and collaborating with artists such as Radiohead, John Digweed, Guy J and King Unique, through to his masterful Balance release in 2011, and to the genre defying beauty of his debut album in 2013, ‘Reality is for those who are not strong enough to confront their dreams’, Henry Saiz is an electronic music artist who transcends trend and formula to create a musical language that can be difficult to describe, but simple to enjoy. Darkbeat are proud to have him back for the first DJ set in Australia in nearly 18 months.
Saiz will be joined on the night by Brazilian powerhouse Wehbba, an incredible artist in his own right. Wehhba is often best known for his collaboration with techno royalty Christian Smith, and his DJ sets are powerful, dynamic and above all, rock a dance floor – a perfect accompaniment to the ethereal Saiz. Joined by a carefully selected local line up in one of Melbourne’s premier venues, Prince of Wales, you have all the ingredients for a memorable night.
Henry Saiz burst on to the scene in 2007 off the back of his melodic techno sound but it was 2009 that the world really stood up and took notice with his remixes of Guy J – Lamur, Digweed – Gridlock and Way Out West – Future Perfect, fast becoming the hottest producer around. Not one to ever be pigeonholed by particular sound or scene he began working on what would be regarded as one of the great mix CD’s of the past decade, his impeccable BALANCE 19 release. Since then he has gone on to release his debut album, toured the world with his live band, begun a weekly radio show showcasing his broad and vast musical inspirations and continuing to release the highest quality releases on labels such as his own Natura Sonoris, Bedrock, microCastle, Last Night on Earth and Suara it’s clear to see that he has no intention of slowing down.
Wehbba is one of Brazil’s main electronic music ambassadors. Born Rodolfo Wehba, in São Paulo, Brazil, this former dentist has been spinning house and techno music records for about a decade, working the crowds worldwide ever since his first international records got released, back in 2006. Wehbba has been an active producer for the past decade, and has developed a very distinct style, marked by stellar production skills. His achievements as a producer can be measured by the number of respected artists he’s worked with over the years, remixers, remixees or collaborators. Although notably and actively working with Swedish legend Christian Smith, the list can be extended to the likes of Laurent Garnier, Robert Babicz, Bushwacka!, X-Press 2, Carlo Lio, Chris Lake, Samuel L Session, Funk D’Void, 16 Bit Lolitas, Sharam Jey, Stephan Bodzin, Joseph Capriati to name only a few. His productions have been featured on labels like Tronic, Bedrock, Toolroom, Soma, Systematic, 100% Pure, Audiomatique, Skint, Trapez, Suara and many others.
