October sees UK sensation Hot Chocolate venture into Chelsea Heights to perform all of their greatest hits in one night. Ever since reforming after a five year hiatus in 1992, the You Sexy Thing hit makers have continued to tour all around the world playing the best of the band’s material. It was the decision of original members Patrick Olive, Harvey Hinsley and Tony O’Connor to keep the band moving along, in which they are deeming it as the best decision they have ever made.
The reformation led to line-up changes with Errol Brown departing as lead singer and bringing in Greg Bannis for a further 18 years. However, in 2010 Kenny Simon took the role which gained much attention to fans and critics alike. The band are sounding their best yet, and showing no signs of slowing down as things are just heating up again. The same song reaching number one over three decades is no easy task for a then small band to come out of Brixton.
With a hit single occurring in every year before for the group disbanded, you can expect to hear the Full Monty theme and many more including Emma, You Could’ve Been a Lady, Brother Louie, Man to Man and No Doubt About It. Who would have thought that the band’s reggae version of Give Peace a Chance would lead to the success they continue to have today.
Less then a week later heartthrobs Kim Wilde and Nik Kershaw will bring their amazing show to the very same stage. With 13 Top 40 hits between them and regular appearances on Countdown, their Australian tour marks a world first for the two pairing in a live band together. Last here in 1994, Wilde has sold an astonishing 20 million singles including those of Kids in America, Cambodia, and You Keep Me Hangin’ On, which will no doubt be heard with a tremendous cheer. It must be noted that she is the most-charted British female solo artist of the 80s.
Her touring companion has not visited Australia since 1985. At that time he spent 62 weeks on the UK Charts. Nearly 30 years on, Kershaw is in fine form with Elton John calling him “one of the best songwriters of a generation.” With an array of Top 10 hits such as Wouldn’t It Be Good, I Won’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, and The Riddle, this is some of the greatest Brit-pop in one night and will bring the best satisfaction on nostalgia.
