LOCAL FEEL FOR THIS YEAR’S JAZZ FESTIVAL

Music and art swings through library and laneways for Mornington Winter Jazz Festival

Mornington Peninsula Shire is getting into the swing of the third Mornington Winter Jazz Festival hosted by the Mornington Chamber of Commerce from June 5-8, 2015.

Mayor Bev Colomb said the Shire is pleased to support the Chamber’s Mornington Winter Jazz Festival and will host a number of events within its Mornington Library and at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery as part of the festival’s exciting program.

“The popular ‘Music After Dark’ sessions will again be held in the Mornington Library featuring a number of great acts, there’ll be performances at the Shire’s regional gallery, and this year the Shire has also sponsored a ‘Live Art’ program with The Snakehole Gallery artists undertaking a painting project in Laneway 6, near 200 Main Street.

“I encourage the local community to get behind Mornington Chamber of Commerce’s exciting Jazz Festival program that will see Mornington come alive with the sound of music this winter!” she said.

Mornington Chamber of Commerce President Judy Edwards said the cornerstone of the festival is the dynamic jazz program.

“2015 will see headline performances include the divine Emma Pask, Adrian Cunningham and living legend George Golla with Jacki Cooper performing their recently released duo DC ‘Tea For Two’ as well as the charismatic Jude Perl, crown pleasers Jazz Party, George Washingmachine in Feel The Manouche and the impeccable Vika Bull performing AT LAST! The Etta James Story.

“The 2015 Mornington Winter Jazz Festival line up has something for everyone and we look forward to seeing you there!” she said.
