Local Melbourne crew Mahala, are proud to announce their next edition with the very in-demand AFFKT!
Months in the making, local crew Mahala are extremely excited to announce their next edition with one of the most popular underground acts on the global circiut. Ask anyone with a passing interest in underground techno and house which artists have caught their ear over the last 6 months, and AFFKT will feature heavily across the board. Since bursting onto the scene in 2010, he’s released a string of unique techno and house flavored tracks on labels such as the in-demand Suara imprint, DJ T’s Get Physical, John Digweed’s Bedrock Records, and even more niche minimal labels like Vakant. His rich vein of form has led to collaborations with a set of diverse artists which includes Radio Slave, John Talabot, Tube & Berger, Finnebassen, and even fellow Dutch drum n bass prodcuers Noisia. Known for transcending the depth of genres, and taking jazz, soul and Latin into the realms of electronic music, AFFKT’s innovation is one that is incomparable… and now finally its Melbourne’s turn to experience the Spaniards unique take on dance music in his DEBUT Australian tour. Do not miss out!
This Valencian artist exploded onto the scene with energy, talent, skill and a sound heavily influenced by German artists. AFFKT has a prominent place among the scene’s most innovative, the ones who knows no boundaries of style and is conceived as an abstract transmission of feelings and emotions.
Committed to progress whilst showing healthy respect for the past is one of AFFKT’s most unique audible features. Above all, AFFKT is synonymous with electronic music, as one of the scenes most active regenerators of contemporary house music; incorporating music from across the musical spectrum to form new amalgamations, creating music that he feels, loves and knows. He considers fusion as one of the main aspects of artistic evolution. Something he proved in his first hit “Points” on Barraca Music, stunning the world with his brave innovation, technical sensuality, control and his ability to take on influences from jazz, soul, latin, pop and funk amongst countless other genres.
Without discrediting classic house, AFFKT explores raw synthetic and organic spaces, finding new types of musical expression for the dance floor and beyond. He has been non-stop producing and remixing for labels such as Get Physical, Bedrock, Noir music, Sincopat, Suara, Rekids, Buzzin fly, Mobilee records, Cécille, Bedrock recordings, Vakant, Mothership, Rebirth, OFF, International Freakshow, Perspectiv and Skint records and for artists such as Mathias Kaden, Radio Slave, Remute for X-press 2, Spencer Parker and Noisia.
AFFKT created his label Sincopat in 2010, to further transcend the boundaries of dance music with other like-minded artists. Sincopat showcases an emerging generation of eclectic artists – children of a thousand sounds – that do not fear exploring the unknown, which is just as it should be.
In his live and DJ shows, AFFKT displays a fascinating scope of influences, references and styles that create an unexpected wave of sound energy on any dance floor. Catch AFFKT Live at New Guernica on May 8th with local support: Dave Stuart (SYD), Simon Murphy, Dave Juric, Scott Freedman, Miza, Retza, Damir Smith, Pumpernickle, Eastwoods, Brendan Ruys, Liam Waller, John Baptiste, Sophia Sin & Huttzi Bear.
