Gotye, Tex Perkins and Nicky Bomba will be coming together for Greenline Grooves at the Melbourne Town Hall to celebrate World Ranger Day on Friday August 1st. In a special one-off show the supergroup will be performing as the Thin Green Line Ambassador Allstars to support the men and women around the world who put their lives on the line to protect our planet.
Founded by local Somers resident Sean Willmore, The Thin Green Line foundation was established to raise awareness for and assist rangers around the world. In particular those rangers in countries where poaching of endangered species is rife and the lack of resources and fight to prevent this often puts their lives and families at risk.
Performing a selection of their own individual hits the supergroup also promise a few surprise guests will be dropping in to help out with some special covers. Supporting the Allstars will be Melbourne’s Tinpan Orange as well as folk favourite Damian Howard and making his way all the way over for the event from Hawaii will be the award winning Makana with his slack key guitar playing.
All proceeds on the night will go towards the foundations work and every punter at the show will have the chance to win a trip to India.
For tickets to the night and to learn more about the Thin Green Line Foundation visit www.thingreenline.org.au/whats-on and keep an eye out for ABC’s Australian Story this July where the foundations work and story will be told.
