Australia’s favourite pop star, Sia has gone on to make APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) history by becoming the only artist to win the APRA Songwriter Of The Year award for two consecutive years. The prestigious award was announced last night at the APRA Music Awards in Brisbane and was chosen by the APRA Board of Directors.
Sia was unable to attend the awards but had this to say; “I am so honoured to be the first songwriter in APRA Awards history to win Songwriter Of The Year…2 years in a row! Thank you so much for recognizing my work, and hope to see you all soon.”
The news comes just two weeks out from the highly anticipated release of Sia’s 6th studio album ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’ out next Friday 4th July.
In the past week Sia has also performed in front of US President Barack Obama at a gala celebrating the LGBT community in New York plus being interviewed by American radio personality Howard Stern. The interview took place on Stern’s radio show for Sirius Satellite Radio and was a humorous and touching reveal into the life of the not so average pop star that Sia is.
