CABLE TIES RECEIVE THE CORNER AWARD

To celebrate taking out this year’s Corner Award, Melbourne punk trio Cable Ties will be inviting along some very special guests as they get set to host the first ever Cable Ties Ball, a multi-stage event at the Corner Hotel this February.

Launched last year, the Corner Award started as a way to give a bit back to the music community that has given us so much over the years. A team of industry experts has tirelessly worked together to whittle down the longlist of rising music stars, into a shortlist and finally decide on one worthy recipient. As a part of the award, Cable Ties’ show at the Corner Hotel on Sat 24 February will double as their first headlining appearance at the venue.

Cable Ties began piecing together their unbridled brand of wiry guitar tunes in singer and guitarist Jenny McKechnie’s back shed in early 2015. Since then, they’ve gone on to develop a cult-like following amongst lovers of frenetic punk and garage the world over.

After only having been performing together for just over a year the band went on to conquer the opening slot at the 2016 Meredith Music Festival, earning them more than a few raised right boots. This preceded a signing with legendary Melbourne label Poison City leading to the release of their debut self-titled album earlier this year. What followed was a nationwide string of sold out shows, local support slots for the likes of The Peep Tempel and The Kills, a European tour with Jen Cloher, the announcement of their inclusion on the 2018 St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival line-up and more!

The Cable Ties Ball will see the band take the stage with the likes of Habits, Miss Blanks, The Dacios, Simona, Eat-Man and Miss Destiny.  Cable Ties perform Saturday February 24 at The Corner Hotel, Swan Street in Richmond. For more information visit www.thecornerhotel.com
