ALEX NIGGEMANN RETURNS AFTER HUGE 2014!

Darkbeat are thrilled to welcome back to the console as a favourite of theirs, a classically trained German who has been tearing up dance floors all over the world – growing in stature by the second. AKA Superlounge, Alex has released tracks on some of the worlds finest labels including Get Physical, Poker Flat Recordings, Last Night On Earth, Supernature Records, Watergate Records and the list goes on.

His success led him to establish not one but two of his own labels – ‘Soulfooled’ launched in 2010 and more recently ‘AEON’, kicked off in 2013. Both of which are frequently supported by industry heavyweights and showcase some of the world’s leading artists.

For those that witnessed his last two gigs for Darkbeat will know you’re in for a treat. He rocked it at Billboards with James Zabiela in 2012 and blew the socks off Motel Nightclub last year with the crew from Flying Circus. Alex is heading back our way to perform at Railway Hotel, a venue gathering a reputation for quality music and electric vibes – the perfect environment for him to work his magic! Having toured Mexico, Spain, Germany, Ireland, France and more this year already, Alex makes his way down to Australia in the form of his life.

It’s been exactly a year since Alex Niggemann’s last visit to Australia, and things couldn’t be more different this time around: A host of productions has seen the outspoken artist climb to the top of a very crowded scene. His 2014 Materium EP (on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat Recordings) was arguably one of the biggest tracks of the year, and charted by every DJ worth his salt (as well as a regular Top 3 charting on RA’s Top 50 tracks of the summer). With other extremely well received tracks on labels like Sasha’s Last Night on Earth, and the iconic Watergate Records, Alex Niggemann returns to Australia as one of the techno and house scene’s biggest drawcards.

Persistent, stubborn, straight ahead! Alex Niggemann can be best described as idiosyncratic, impulsive and self-critical. What might be construed as negative for some people, are attributes that have paved the way to a remarkable career for this DJ and producer.

His strings of releases and remixes on labels including Poker Flat, Compost Black Label, Get Physical, Tsuba, Supernature, 8bit, his own imprints AEON and Soulfooled reaches back to 2005, showcasing the stylistic variety of the 1984 born producer who has deftly mastered styles from vocal-heavy house to darker techno for moving masses.

And yet, terms like “Chicago”, “Detroit” and “techno-house” are still on point when it comes to describing Mr. Niggemann’s timeless, high quality output as these continue to be highly influential in shaping his identifiable sound.

Same goes for his much appreciated DJ sets which have been taking him all around the globe before and after his “Paranoid Funk World Tour” with a mad schedule of 40 shows worldwide, miles collecting 3 months tour marathon.

This massive tour was celebrating Alex Niggemann’s debut album “Paranoid Funk” which was released on Poker Flat in Summer 2012, followed by a string of remixes for tracks taken off his first ever longplay piece.

In 2013 his new Poker Flat 12″ “Tangram” caused global massive dancefloor movement, merely providing a glimpse into the successes he commanded in 2014 – the white hot ‘Materium’ (Poker Flat) is one of the most played and charted tracks of last year’s summer, sitting in on RA’s Top 3 charted tracks 3 months after release.

With the past months delivering an EP on Sasha’s prolific Last Night On Earth, a release on the iconic Watergate Records, remixes on Compost and his own label Soulfooled, and an EP dropping on his AEON imprint, it’s clear that the future is bright for the young and talented Alex Niggemann, as he continues to forge his own path, rising through the ranks of producers due to his inspiring passion, focus and talent.

The all-star local lineup will also do much more than tickle your toes, we have the legendary Phil K doing a monstrous 7 hour set in the front bar, aswell as Jamie Stevens, Walter Juan, Malouk, Olly Davis, Rollin Collection, Rich Daniel, Ed Hale, 2DotZero, Dave Pham, Dave Juric, Lister Cooray and Aaron Smiles.

You don’t want to miss what’s set to be a very special and intimate evening with the man from Dusseldorf!
