A night with JUDE PERL

Friday 27 Feb @ 7:00 pm

After performing in the sold out season of “Spiegelicious” at the fabulous Three Palms Spiegel Zelt in Sorrento, singer, songwriter and pianist Jude Perl returns to the tent with her very own solo show – for one night only!

Perl spent much of 2014 living in Los Angeles recording her debut album with Grammy award-winning producer Brian Paturalski (Outkast) and performing solo shows around the city at venues such as The Hotel Cafe and The House of Blues. Earlier in 2014, Jude was a part of the highly acclaimed show “Let’s Get It On – The Life & Music of Marvin Gaye” at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne. In 2013 her debut single “Girls & Boys” received regular commercial airplay all over Australia (including Fox Fm and 2day FM).

Her show at the Spiegeltent will feature original material from her EP and soon to be released debut album, as well as some of her favourite R&B, Jazz, Pop and Soul cover songs. She will also be previewing material from her upcoming debut show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, a Spiegeltent exclusive! WENDY MATTHEWS sings Billie Holiday.

Saturday 28 Feb @ 7.00pm & 9:30pm

In the winter of 2012, singer songwriter Wendy Matthews went into the Stuart Piano Factory in Newcastle with Brendan St Ledger playing piano and Greg Royal on standup bass. The trio emerged after two days with an EP of live recordings and realized they had captured a long loved, but never delved into, side of Wendy’s music history.

The circumstances they recorded in allow for an intimate and introspective translation of some classic and not so classic Billie Holiday songs, an iconic woman whose soul and music has been long admired. Wendy will perform these songs at the Spiegeltent – for one night only!

THE PETER CUPPLES Band – featuring hits from Stylus

Friday 6 March @ 8:00pm

With an extensive career in the Australian music industry, Peter Cupples has spent the past four decades delighting audiences with his soul-based music. Peter first smashed on to the music scene in the mid-1970s with soul band STYLUS. As the lead singer and key songwriter for the band, he became a well-recognized face.

Peter was very popular on television, from his regular spot on the Midday Show to his appearances on shows such as Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Tonight Live with Steve Vizard, In Melbourne Tonight and Good Morning Australia to name a few. The Peter Cupples Band features hits from STYLUS, the first ‘all white band’ to be signed by the U.S. Company, Tamala Motown with great success internationally under the Motown label.

JON ENGLISH

Saturday 7 March & Sunday 8th @ 8:00PM

Jon English – one of Australia’s most loved and enduring recording and performing artists – and Peter Cupples, former lead singer and songwriter of ‘STYLUS’, perform together in their collaborative music show, ‘UNCORKED’.  Born out of a wonderful rapport formed whilst touring together in ‘Pirates of Penzance’, the repertoire of the twosome features all their old hits and favourites, including Turn the Page, Hollywood 7, Six Ribbons, Words Are Not Enough, Summer Breeze and World Of Make Believe.    “We do a bit of his, then a bit of mine, then a little bit of other people’s”, says English.  “We like to alternate between some rock and then a ballad, with a joke or two thrown in for good measure!”    Performing for one weekend only, don’t miss these two great artists together on stage; a surprising combination of totally different styles and talents that somehow works to create a unique and exciting sound.

KATE CEBERANO
